Accessible transportation helps older adults maintain their independence, manage daily activities and stay connected to their communities.

Many older adults prefer to age in place rather than move to a long-term care home. Reliable transportation makes it easier to shop for groceries, attend medical appointments, run errands and take part in community activities without relying on family or friends for every trip.

For those who no longer drive or have mobility challenges, losing access to transportation can lead to social isolation and affect physical and mental well-being. Accessible transit helps older adults visit friends, attend religious or community gatherings and participate in recreational and cultural activities.

Several conventional and specialized transportation services are available in the region. Some offer accessible vehicles on regular routes, while others provide specialized or door-to-door service for eligible passengers.
