Members of Bay of Quinte CARP Chapter 39 were joined by local dignitaries to celebrate National Seniors Day. This is an occasion for all Canadians to join in celebrating older adults across Canada—whether a parent, a co-worker, a neighbour or a friend.

Thanks to Hastings Lennox and Addington Tyendinaga MP Shelby Kramp-Neuman, Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis, Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander, Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison, Kevin Clarke representing Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette, Adam Bramburger representing Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp for joining the fun.
As part of National Seniors Day, the Government of Canada created this quiz on ageism and intergenerational activities and a resources and tools webpage to challenge ageism. Ageism refers to stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination based on age. Deconstructing these myths is crucial to fostering respect and dignity for older adults.
CARP has created a toolkit to help fight ageism in Canada. Learn the truth and spread the news about the ongoing contribution of older Canadians!
To learn more about ageism, check out the Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors Don’t Call Me Dear webpage challenging ageist language and stereotypes.
Challenging ageism means shifting our language and attitudes, and valuing people of all ages for their contributions and potential.
